About this work
This series of paintings comprises a meditation on beauty and decay. Flowers are immersed in water and frozen and thawed to emulate seasonal changes; as the plants begin to break down they emit gases, pollens and yeasts, forming bubbles in the ice and irregularities in the surface of the water. The water acts upon the flowers and the flowers act upon the water, and time changes both.
