Copyright, IP & DMCA

§ 01

Ownership

The Women In Art platform — including the site design, code, copy, curated content, tool architecture, template wording (consignment agreement, representation agreement, artist CV, available works, business card, press release, bill of sale, certificate of authenticity, and all derivative variants), reference data, pricing guides, AI mentor prompts, opportunities database, and editorial — is the proprietary work of Women In Art Ltd (founded 2023 by Gabrielle du Plooy; marketplace launched 2026), and is protected under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and applicable international copyright law.

§ 02

What you may do

View the site, share individual artwork URLs and editorial articles publicly, screenshot a single page for review or commentary in journalism, education or social media (with attribution to womeninart.com), use our public APIs in accordance with their documented rate limits, and quote short passages from editorial articles for the purposes of fair dealing under sections 30 and 30A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

§ 03

What you may NOT do

Clone, mirror, replicate, or reverse-engineer the site or any substantial portion of it (whether the visual design, the front-end code, the back-end logic, the database schema, the tool flows, the template wording, or the editorial). Use the site, its templates, or its content to train any artificial intelligence or machine-learning model. Scrape the site programmatically beyond the documented public API endpoints. Reproduce template wording (legal templates, calculators, AI mentor prompts) in commercial products, courses, or competing platforms. Frame, embed, or iframe any page of this site inside another website. Strip, alter, or obscure the copyright notice, canary identifier, or any embedded provenance metadata.

§ 04

Artist content

Artwork images, descriptions, biographies, and statements uploaded by artists remain the copyright of the individual artist. Women In Art holds a non-exclusive licence to display, market, fulfil orders, and feature these works in editorial content for the duration of the artist's account. Artists retain their UK Artist's Resale Right on every sale. Re-use of artist content by collectors, journalists, or third parties requires the artist's direct permission.

§ 05

DMCA / takedown procedure

If you believe your copyrighted work has been infringed on Women In Art, send a formal notice to hello@womeninart.com (subject line: 'DMCA Takedown') including: (1) a description of the copyrighted work you allege has been infringed, (2) the URL on Women In Art where the alleged infringement appears, (3) your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address, (4) a statement made under penalty of perjury that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf, and (5) your physical or electronic signature. We respond to all formal notices within 5 working days and act on valid claims within 10. Counter-notices follow the same channel.

§ 06

Clone detection

Every page of this site carries an embedded canary identifier (currently: WIA-CLONE-DETECT-R7C4-3DAC-F2B1-2026) and additional silent fingerprints throughout the source. If you suspect a clone, the canary appearing on another domain is provable evidence of wholesale copying. The honeypot endpoint at /api/scrape/full-catalogue.json returns deliberately watermarked rows whose canary IDs uniquely identify Women In Art as the source. Operators of suspected clones will receive a single takedown notice followed by formal legal action under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and equivalent international law.
