This mid-sized to large format features a puristic and powerful form - a lonely rock that could have existed here for ages. The color choice is elegant and intentionally minimal: at the center is a cool mint-turquoise-green that stands out clearly against the structural white and the defining black. The centerpiece of the work is the intense, heavy surface texture, achieved with ash, to emulate the rough, geological tactility of the mountains. To me this work captures the stillness and endurance of ancient rock formations and translate them into a contemporary, abstract form. This work is sold unframed, frames / in situ images for illustration purposes only. The edges continue the natural fabric and reveal the painting process.
