Liminal Bloom

About this work

I was thinking about one individual standing in the middle of this world, surrounded by all these little signs of life—the flowers, the fish, the landscape. She is the observer of this world. The flowers are blooming, the fish are moving through the water, we’re here for a certain amount of time—and then everything changes. We are all, in a way, just passing through. But it's not sad or tragic. There’s actually something very comforting about it. Because when one life fades, life itself doesn’t disappear. It continues, changes form, and begins again somewhere else. That’s also where the title Liminal Bloom comes from. “Liminal” is that space between one state and another, and I think this figure is standing in that kind of space: appreciating the beauty of being here, while quietly understanding that nothing stays exactly as it is.
