About this work
This painting was inspired by a young french woman, Elsa who told me a sad story of a romantic break up that she had gone through and although she was very sad at the time she had since found reliance and strength, qualities that resonate with many women. She had no bitterness. Working from my original source material the image was worked on digitally and then scaled up onto an extra fine linen canvas and executed in many layers of transparent oil colour glazes giving the finished work a beautiful translucent quality.
