About this work
This artwork is inspired by the story of Persephone and Hades. She was gifted a pomegranate and for every seed she ate, she had to stay in the underworld for another month of the year. The autumn is when pomegranates ripen and when Persephone returns to Hades, taking the warm air of summer with her. I find peace in romanticising autumn as the descent into the stagnant winter, waiting for the goddess of spring to return.
