About this work
A contemporary reimagining of the Enlightenment-era coffee house – once known as the "penny university" – this work captures a realm where ideas, conversation, and debate flourish. In the warm glow of summer light, a quiet game of chess unfolds amidst a still life of symbolic objects, honouring the enduring pursuit of art, intellect, and human connection.
