About this work

Original 3D mixed-media collage created from acrylic paint and fine birch wood. Painted strips of wood are precisely cut and reassembled into an intersecting geometric composition, with cool blues, turquoise and violet tones evoking the shifting light and atmosphere of the Arctic landscape. The rhythmic structure draws on the visual language of weaving, while subtle gradations of colour create movement, depth and luminosity across the surface. This piece is mounted on a gesso-painted white backboard. The piece can come ready framed in white, black or solid oak wood box frame with a UV perspex glaze. The glaze protects the painting from UV fade and helps to ship my work worldwide. 50 x 50cm unframed 53x53x4cm framed Artworks come signed both on the reverse of the artwork itself inside the frame and also on the backing board on the reverse of the box frame.

About the artist

Amelia Coward is a British mixed media artist whose practice unites colour, geometry and material craft through hand-painted wood and vintage maps. Trained at St Martins and the RCA, her work explores colour interaction, place and memory, and is held in private and corporate collections internationally.
