Where the Soul Blooms explores the quiet transformations that take place within us — the way our experiences, memories and emotions become part of who we are, allowing new feelings, new hopes and new ways of seeing the world to emerge. Like roots growing beneath the earth, much of this happens unseen. What we live through leaves its trace, shaping us gently over time and creating space for something new to bloom. The embroidered flowers emerging from the woman’s hand become a symbol of this inner blossoming — of beauty taking form and finding its way outward. The hummingbird brings another layer to the story, carrying a sense of freedom, movement and renewal, while suggesting the courage to follow what is beginning to grow within us. The combination of painting, textile and hand embroidery gives this idea a physical presence. Each stitch carries time and intention, allowing the flowers to extend beyond the painted surface and become an integral part of the work. At its heart, Where the Soul Blooms is a celebration of our ability to keep evolving, to discover new emotions and new ways of experiencing beauty, and to bloom again and again throughout our lives. About the artist

Gisella Stapleton is a Peruvian-born, London-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores female interiority, cultural memory and belonging. Across painting, hand embroidery, mixed media and muralism, she examines the relationship between our inner landscapes and the natural world, reimagining inherited visual languages through contemporary figuration.
