Foundations

SFMOMA's recently established archives reveal a treasure trove of early records, including those from its Women's Board, formed a year before the museum's 1935 opening. This discovery highlights the foundational, often unsung, contributions of women in shaping major art institutions. For emerging women artists today, it's a powerful reminder: our collective history is built on the dedication of those who came before us. It underscores the importance of community, advocacy, and meticulously documenting your own artistic journey. Your legacy starts now, and its preservation ensures your impact is recognized for generations to come. — Source: SFMOMA Open Space
