The Artist Residency That Never Was

An alarming report from Hyperallergic highlights a crucial lesson for emerging artists. Abstract Mag recently invited numerous artists to participate in a summer residency in Georgia, only for their online presence to abruptly disappear. This serves as a stark reminder for early-career women artists: thoroughly vet every opportunity. Before dedicating your valuable time, energy, or funds, meticulously research organizers, check for independent reviews, and seek testimonials. Your artistic journey is precious; protect it from deceptive schemes by practicing vigilant due diligence. Safeguard your ambitions and ensure your focus remains on your craft. — Source: Hyperallergic
