Statement

My artistic practice delves into the liminal terrain between inherited heritage and lived experience. As a first-generation Cuban American, a mother, and a woman, I navigate life through a rich third-culture lens, a perspective that informs my exploration of Latina America's vibrant flora and fauna. My work honors the tension of never feeling fully anchored in a single world, ultimately claiming the transformative power of belonging everywhere, creating a shared space where distinct, intersecting paths meet. I approach each painting with a passionate, daily commitment, dedicating at least three hours to conceptualizing or painting in acrylics. This rigorous process translates into vibrant color, expressive line work, and bold graphic compositions, which I term "Latina Cubism." These visual elements serve as bridges, capturing the fluid, layered nature of identity and transforming it into something deeply prismatic. My canvases invite viewers to experience the complex beauty of belonging.
