About this work
*Bear, obviously* is a satirical ceramic vessel responding to the viral “man or bear” debate. Depicting a lively nightclub scene in which women dance freely among bears, the work uses humour and absurdity to explore women's perceptions of safety, male violence and the unsettling realities behind a seemingly ridiculous hypothetical. Beneath its playful, decorative surface lies a pointed commentary on gender and the everyday calculations women make around personal safety.
