About this work
Painting is a solitary form of work and I, like many artists, enjoy sitting in favourite cafés watching the world go by. As a figure painter, I am particularly interested in the people I see around me…the way they sit…what they are wearing… alone or together and the expressions on their faces. One wonders who they are and what their story might be. Cafés offer a shared ‘time-out’ from life for those who want to spend that time alone or with someone else.
