About this work
I am particularly interested in depicting figures alone in a public space…for example at café, on a chair, in an open space because no matter what is happening around us the human condition is to live and die with an awareness of our existential and inescapable aloness. How humans cope with this journey is what fascinates me. In my work, I am trying to portray what is in the mind of my figures…what they are feeling and thinking. Everything around them…the dramatic clothing, the geometry the context is to give some sort of hint to this inner state. In that sense my works are portraits of a mind.
