About this work
Many of my works play with interpretations of animals as they have appeared throughout art history, particularly drawing from influences in Japanese and European art. I’m fascinated by the way artists across cultures and centuries have tried to capture the spirit of living creatures, and I wanted these paintings to exist as part of that ongoing conversation. In this work, I have re-interpreted the animal subject etchings and paintings of the 15th/16th -century German artist Albrecht Durer.
