About this work

There is something about water that knows before we do. It moves toward what needs moving, softens what has hardened, carries away what was never meant to stay. This painting is not about loss. It is about the quiet intelligence of letting go - and the strange lightness that follows. Water does not arrive with instructions. It comes and it works, quietly, without asking whether you are ready. I have learned to trust that quality in myself too - the part that moves before the mind has finished deciding, that acts from instinct rather than plan. This painting is that kind of movement. Not controlled. Not composed from a distance. Begun from the inside, the way water begins - from wherever there is an opening. "Transformation does not always require force. But willingness." There is no violence in the way water transforms. A stone does not break under water - it softens, slowly, over time, until its edges become something almost gentle. I think about that when I work. The body on canvas is not forcing anything. It is offering itself to the process, the way water offers itself to whatever shape it finds.
