Timeless – What Makes an Artwork Timeless? The Timeless series revolves around a question that continues to occupy me as a painter: What makes an artwork timeless? And what do we actually mean when we describe a work as such? Alongside my central exploration of setting surface and colour into dynamic movement, this series investigates the elusive feeling of timelessness itself. How can it be translated into painting? When does a work begin to transcend its particular moment—and where does that quality begin to shift? At the same time, I am conscious of a fundamental paradox: whether an artwork is truly timeless can never be determined in the present. Timelessness is not something a work can claim for itself; it is something that only time can reveal.
