About this work
When I painted Whispers of the Meadow, I kept returning to a place that has always been close to me - a meadow that exists somewhere between memory and imagined space. I wanted to capture that feeling of standing at the edge of tall grasses and wildflowers in soft morning light, when everything is both quiet and full of life. This piece began as a study of wildflowers that refuse to follow rules: cornflower blues, delicate whites and soft, muted tones that find their own rhythm amid tangled stems. As I worked, it became a place of quiet chaos - fragile petals, fine ink lines and layered colour holding both disorder and calm. Amid that disorder, I was looking for energy, persistence and a gentle kind of hope. I used acrylics and inks on professional canvas, building up translucent layers and subtle marks so the painting would feel spacious and atmospheric rather than heavy. It’s part of my Flowers of Hope series, where nature becomes a reminder that hope can be grounded, warm and enduring, not loud or naïve. I imagine this work living in a room that needs openness and softness, bringing the feeling of a meadow indoors without overwhelming the space. This is where I find hope: in wildflowers that bloom without permission, in quiet places that keep existing even when life feels loud. I’d be honoured if a part of that quiet hope I carry in this painting found its home with someone who needs it
About the artist
Anna Rokus is a self‑taught, emerging artist based in the UK, creating nature‑inspired, intuitive paintings for interiors that need a quiet, emotional focal point. She works mainly in acrylics and mixed media on canvas and board, and sometimes on paper, building layered, tactile worlds that sit between florals, abstraction and inner landscapes. Her work explores sensitivity, hope and stillness in a loud world - for people who want their walls to hold more than decoration.
