About

Anna Rokus is a self‑taught, emerging artist based in the UK, creating nature‑inspired, intuitive paintings for interiors that need a quiet, emotional focal point. She works mainly in acrylics and mixed media on canvas and board, and sometimes on paper, building layered, tactile worlds that sit between florals, abstraction and inner landscapes. Her work explores sensitivity, hope and stillness in a loud world - for people who want their walls to hold more than decoration.

Statement

I paint from sensitivity, but not from softness alone. There is grief in it, resistance in it, and a refusal to let this world steal my ability to feel deeply and see clearly. My work is rooted in nature, stillness and inner landscapes - places where colour, texture and light become a way to sit with what is tender and what is difficult. Each painting is a small, self‑contained world that invites you to pause, breathe, and inhabit a quiet space inside yourself, even when life feels loud. I’m interested in how optimism can exist alongside sorrow, anger and fatigue. Not as a naïve smile, but as a deliberate choice to keep looking for beauty and clarity. My paintings are made for people who want their walls to hold more than decoration: a reminder to stay sensitive and awake. I returned to painting after a long period of doubt and the slow work of learning to trust myself again. For a time it felt easier not to paint than to face my own voice, but eventually it became impossible to ignore. Painting is how I make sense of myself and the world, even when that process is not always easy. I’m drawn to silence, nature, and what lives beneath the surface - the emotions, tensions and quiet truths that can’t always be easily named. Some of my work carries stillness and unease; some comes from meadows, wildflowers and the kind of beauty that brings comfort and hope. For the optimists. And for those who are still trying to stay one. Or become one.

Commissions

I take commissions for nature‑inspired paintings and intuitive, abstract works created to suit a specific space, colour palette or mood. I’m happy to discuss series‑based commissions for interiors that need a cohesive, calming presence.
