Saskia Cierach
I am a young artist based between Manchester, London and Somerset. I work in a plethora of mediums but in recent years I have been sculpting in clay. I cast my sculptures in a variety of mediums, from bronze, to Carrera marble resin. I work predominantly figuratively, and aim to encourage thought and discussion through my pieces, where one is able to see themselves through my work, as well as myself I have created through its message.

Statement
I sculpt the human form to unravel the complexities of identity, merging classical ideals with a powerful surrealist vision. Drawing from an enduring fascination with classical art history and the transformative potential of surrealism, particularly evident in contemporary sculptors like Coderch and Malavia, my work transcends mere representation. Each piece becomes a vessel for female empowerment and a journey of personal reflection, inviting viewers to engage with their own interpretations. I strive to create work that provokes introspection and fosters a deep, emotive connection, seeking to be understood on a fundamental level. My creative journey begins with an initial spark of inspiration, quickly translated into sketches and research before I dive directly into the clay. This initial burst gives way to a tenacious and iterative process; I often restart a piece multiple times until its form perfectly articulates my vision. Working exclusively in clay, I employ the intricate lost wax method to cast my sculptures, bringing them to life in enduring bronze, vibrant bronze resin, or the ethereal elegance of Carrera marble resin. This deliberate, non-conformist approach allows me to cultivate a distinctive style, preserving the uniqueness that defines my artistic voice. Each finished sculpture embodies a unique narrative, sculpted to provoke and to resonate.
