About this work
This body of work is about the love and loss of my late father and our joint love of hay bales. This series began with a photograph he took in Yorkshire, which I later found. This abstracted landscape encapsulates a shared unspoken love and one favourite view: ‘ the field of hay bales' which also draws reference from Van Gogh's cornfields of 1889. Space, form and fluidity are vital elements in the making of the work. I am fascinated by the materiality and historicity of the found object. The fusion of working across different mediums is an exciting part of my practice keeping authenticity as the focal point. Like a still from a film or a moment in time it’s sometimes disturbing, unsettling or at peace.
