Judith Produces Flowers is a modern re telling of the Biblical tale of Judith and Holofernes. Painted in acrylics it calls on the symbolism of flowers to transform the narrative. The Biblical tale of Judith and Holofernes is a recurring theme for me over decades. It has a lasting impact due to the portrayal of the subject by Artemisia Gentileschi. The passion and torment that she revealed in her depiction was a correlation of her personal torture. Not only coersed and raped, but the indignity and victim shaming that she had to endure in court. Including her fingers being damaged.
