About this work

"Ann" began as an encounter with a single gaze — a woman whose deep, amber eyes held a quiet insistence. I translated that intensity into flattened planes of color and decisive black contours, letting warm ochres and cool violets sit side by side to suggest memory and mood rather than literal light. The elongated neck and simplified features focus attention on the eyes, which anchor the painting as both a portrait and a vessel for feeling: attentive, slightly guarded, and quietly luminous.
