About this work
The first of 2 studies exploring the textures encountered across shaded areas of heathland. My inspiration for both pieces are the wooded parts of the Hampstead Heath extension, the Sandy Heath, with its eerie and mystical shadows. I once found myself lost here, only to discover minutes later, that I was merely yards away from the main road! The pulled string and jute I applied to the substrate, depict my vision of the thread-like branches weaving their way around gnarled and ancient trunks.
