About this work
The 2nd of my two mixed media abstract pieces exploring the textures encountered across shaded areas of the Hampstead Heath extension, the 'Sandy Heath'. I've always been convinced this area is haunted; by exactly what, I really have no idea. However, the sensation of an invisible presence just followed me during my short stay here, maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and the vision remains with me today. The trailing and fibrous strings of plant matter hanging over the surface of the greater pond inspired me to deconstruct bunches of string and jute to recreate nature's incredible weaving effects within its wild structures. This is probably among the most tactile of my organic relief pieces inviting the viewer to see beyond the reach of mere sight.
