About this work
Quelling the Swan is a severing of self from current and past toxicity. The swan has always been a symbolic element through my art. Drawn to the narrative of Leda when researching Renaissance paintings during my Masters Degree. Set within the plight of womanhood and societal and domestic inequalities and abuse. Quelling the Swan is an attempt to reclaim a sense of self, away from the lies, manipulation and horror which wome consume every day.
