Roberta Heslop

About

I’m Roberta Heslop, a contemporary figurative artist based in Ingleton, UK. I create expressive paintings exploring the female form, intimacy and personal liberation.

Statement

My work is rooted in a deep belief: that every woman deserves to feel free in her body, proud of her story, and seen without judgement. I paint the female form to challenge the limiting ideals we have been taught, and to offer a different lens: one of softness, strength, truth and self-love. Each painting is a moment of freedom. I let the process guide me. Sometimes I work with thick oils, building texture and depth until the figure begins to breathe. Other times, I turn to Indian ink and embrace its raw immediacy: a single, committed stroke on white canvas. What is left out is just as important as what is shown. Space gives room for interpretation, reflection and honesty. Through colour, texture and expressive mark-making, I explore intimacy and personal liberation. My paintings invite us to let go of perfection, celebrate our bodies and feel more at ease in our own skin. I also offer commissions, working collaboratively with individuals and couples to honour what they want to express through colour, form and energy.
