Unfolding, Still

About this work

In “Unfolding, Still,” organic forms emerge through overlapping gestures in green, ochre, and orange. Foliage and shifting light are suggested, with shapes that remain open to interpretation. Working with acrylic and oil pastel, I combined broad painted passages with drawn marks. Dense, tangled areas meet quieter sections of pale green, giving the eye places to pause within the movement. The title holds two meanings for me: something that continues to unfold and a moment of stillness within that process. The painting reflects an interest in change as a gradual, sometimes uncertain experience where a sense of direction can emerge along the way.
