About this work
This painting reflects on connection and how we extend one another’s possibilities. I was interested in balancing keeping your own shape with letting someone else change you. The title captures that thought: something becomes possible when two people meet, something neither could find alone. Layers of pink, violet, burgundy, and pale green overlap, with flashes of blue and orange showing through. Broad brushstrokes meet fine lines and broken marks, leaving traces of earlier layers visible. The organic forms suggest growth but also the effort of making room. They lean towards something, pull back, and find a different direction. I wanted tenderness to have weight here. The darker passages carry that feeling, giving the softer forms something to press against and emerge from.
