About this work
I am inspired by the unexpected seams of colour in natural stone. In “A Vein of Light,” coral shapes move through golden ochre, cream, and deep green, linking areas with distinct textures. Collage enables me to place delicate washes alongside thicker painted marks, preserving each fragment’s character. Curved forms lead the eye through the layers, while pale lilac passages offer quieter moments. The title refers to a moment of brightness within a complex surface. I hope the work encourages close observation, allowing details and unexpected connections to emerge over time.

Anna Rolskaya is a Lisbon-based abstract painter who works in acrylic, oil stick, and mixed media. Classically trained and color-sensitive from her watercolor experience, her work draws on floral forms and features translucent, layered washes.
