About this work
In Quiet Company captures a peaceful moment of connection between two herons, standing together within a softly atmospheric landscape. Elegant and still, the pair emerge through gentle layers of colour and softened detail, creating a feeling of companionship, balance and quiet understanding. Their graceful forms bring a sense of calm to the painting, while the surrounding landscape drifts between realism and abstraction. Part of my Highland Series, this original painting is inspired by Scotland’s wildlife and the quiet, fleeting moments in nature that invite us to stop and simply observe. For me, it is a painting about connection, stillness and the beauty of quiet company.
