About this work
The Land Remembers grew intuitively through layers of colour, texture and expressive mark-making. Warm rust, burnt orange and earthy tones move across the surface, with fragments of pattern appearing and disappearing through the layers. The painting was not created from a predetermined image. Instead, I allowed each layer to influence the next, building and softening areas until the work found its own balance. For me, it carries a sense of something ancient and weathered — traces of landscape, memory and time held within the surface.
