About this work

A meditation on listening, transformation, compassion and hope. She sits in stillness - crowned, grounded, present. Butterflies gather around her, symbols of transformation and the soul in many traditions. The warm halo behind her speaks of inner light, of something luminous that grief cannot extinguish. This work was made for anyone who has sat with loss and found, somewhere in the quiet, a strange kind of companionship. Painted in watercolour on raw canvas. About the artist

I am a mixed-media artist working from my studio in Bolton, Lancashire, trading as Quiet Thunder. My work is painted using watercolours on a non traditional background of raw canvas. Edges are left deliberately frayed to evoke a certain fragility. Hand stitch, metallic leaf and hand-stamped metal add to the stories drawn from myth and ancestry.
