Brigid

About this work

Brigid is the Celtic Goddess of the hearth, poetry, and healing. A keeper of thresholds. Painted on raw canvas with frayed, unfinished edges that are integral to the work. There is also a line from the poem 'The Lady of Shalott' by Alfred Lord Tennyson and a brass hand stamped tag which says the word 'tend'. Framed in a beautiful metallic finish Italian frame. Ready to hang.

About the artist

I am a mixed-media artist working from my studio in Bolton, Lancashire, trading as Quiet Thunder. My work is painted using watercolours on a non traditional background of raw canvas. Edges are left deliberately frayed to evoke a certain fragility. Hand stitch, metallic leaf and hand-stamped metal add to the stories drawn from myth and ancestry.
